The Asics GT 2140

With improved stability and a noticeable upgrade to platform comfort, the GT-2140 will continue to satisfy the legions of runners who swear by the shoe.

Features and Benefits:
1) Impact Guidance System (IGS) – linked componentry that enhances the foot’s natural gait from heel strike to toe-off.
2) Solyte Midsole Material – lighter than ASICS’ standard EVA and SpEVA, combined with improved cushioning and durability.
3) DuaMAX support system – helps ensure that the shoe maintains proper support for the foot during the critical transition from heel strike to toe-off.
4) ComforDry Sockliner – provides optimal cushioning performance in a cooler, drier, healthier environment.

The ride of the GT series is low profile, more on the forefoot. It gives better handling on the road more than the 1130 and 1140 respectively. The GT has a wide set last on the forefoot – the extra room is noticeable. Distance runners and heel strikers will definitely enjoy the IGS on the heel as it cradles the feet and gives a nice transition going to the toe-off.

Changes made from 2130 to 2140:

More subtle IGS on the heel.

Minimal change on the outsole pattern, and the midfoot stability plate.

Total revamp of the upper; large improvement in terms of aesthetics. They extended the groove lines of synthetic materials from the heel counter to the sides. They also used bigger holed mesh for the upper. The midfoot plate in the 2140 (above) has been extended a bit to the heel.

The improvement on the mesh upper is very apparent both visual and when you run in it. The accents on the toe area are the same, they just made the lines smoother.

Length of DuoMAX support is the same. From the onset, the 2140 (below) has a more bent up forefoot area while the 2130 (above) is more straight – even after logging in 200kms on it.

Great improvement from the GT 2130 in many aspects.
