Shoe Review: Asics Gel 1130
June 30, 2009
ASICS GEL 1130

Profile: Basic middle weight stability shoe for mild over pronators.

Upper: Mesh for ventilation and synthetic materials for reinforcement.
Midsole: Speva foam with encapsulated Gel on the heel and forefoot, X-frame midfoot shank plate for torsional rigidity.
Outsole: AHAR carbon rubber on the heel and forefoot for those high wear and tear areas with durasponge rubber ensuring lightweight and durability.

The X-frame shank plate on the midfoot area keeps the sole stable. This cradles the foot to provide support as well.

Impact area behaves like a spring board upon landing on your heel (see the similarity in design). You will readily feel the bounce and responsiveness of the Gel cushioning.

The height of the heel is just right to absorb runners who weigh 140-200lbs. and the midfoot shank plate which cradles the foot, helps or assists the foot to transition from heel to toe off. Moreover, the Asics Duomax (medial posting) is just the right amount of support for runners who mildly over pronate. As Asics mentioned in their site, this is a basic Gel stability shoe, but pound for pound this shoe proves to be more than basic. The blend the midfoot plate and the amount of medial posting works together seamlessly as you shift your weight from the heel to your forefoot.
If you google this shoe, you'll see many runners swear by it, and gives a high rating.
There are some runners who, once they meet the best shoe that fits their needs, they buy 2 models of the same shoe - that or they become loyal followers. On the flip side, there are other runners who try to get their hands on more shoes - and the more variety the better.
