NB 130
June 3, 2009
For the longest time, Mizuno Wave Ronin 2 held the #1 spot as the lightest "street-legal" shoe. Weighing in only at 218 grams (men’s size 9)
That claim has been challenged today by the New Balance 130 P4,595.00
Upper – made of lightweight and sheer mesh material with minimal synthetic overlay. Midsole – 3/4 inch of acteva light foam which is supported by a thin line of TPU (thermo plastic urethane) plate to provide some form of stability
Outsole – one-piece Ndurance carbon rubber material
Actual weight: 135.6 grams (men’s size 9)
While this shoe stands to be the lightest "street-legal" shoe; and at the same time, debunking the ronin2 – new balance dictates that this shoe is best or advisable for runners who want to break their PR for 3, 5, and 10kms fun runs, or races. And the ronin2 on the other hand is marathon-able (for the elite and efficient runners). This shoe is best enjoyed by runners who are able to run and maintain a 3 to 4 – 4’30 min / km pace.
